Misunderstandings in ENT

Ear

Cleaning the ears is harmful and causes habit (!)
In some people the ear’s flow is accumulated and has to be cleaned cyclically. It is harmful to try to clean the ear with cotton matchsticks. Having the ear cleaned does not cause any habit.

He/she should go to the brain surgery or neurology when vertigo happens (!)
The vertigo and imbalance are the feelings confused with each other. The branch to be applied for firstly in vertigo, that could be described as turning of person or around, is the ear, nose and throat diseases.

The water should not enter into the ears of children whom the ear tubes were applied (!)
The surface pressure of ventilation tube holes do not allow the water pass into the middle ear through the tube, thus the people who have tubes do not need to protect their ears from water while entering into the sea, pool, while having a bath, moreover the ones protected from water sometimes have dangers to choke the tube by drying the external ear’s ejection.

Nose

The patient whose nose is bleeding should be laid down immediately, the cold water should be applied to his/her nose (!)
In general the patient is laid down when the nose bleeding and the cotton is inserted into the nose. Instead nose of the patient should be cleaned with cold water and the nose’s wings should be pressed firmly as the patient was sat. The ice could be applied to the face and around of nose and admit to an ear, nose, throat expert.

General

In the infections of the upper respiratory tract the antibiotic should be given immediately (!)
The infections of upper respiratory tract are the diseases mostly met and mostly wrong, used antibiotic unnecessarily. Most of the infections of the upper respiratory tract are formed by the viruses where the antibiotics do not affect. Giving antibiotic to the patients in whom the infection formed by virus was fixed or doubted damages instead of benefit, because the antibiotics kill bacteria – as protector in our upper respiratory tract - causes the viruses produce more comfortably, in addition may also cause formation of fungus infections.

If the infection’s reason is bacteria, it is unnecessary to start to give antibiotic early. The ones eliminated the microbe is the natural defense of our body, the antibiotics are only the helpers. It shall be more understandable to explain it with an example. Let us liken the natural defense to an army, the antibiotics to a weapon. If the army does not perform its duty, the weapon is up to no good. The natural defense should know the microbe, early starting of antibiotic could prevent the defense know the microbe enough, it also causes the few microbes found, producing disease when the antibiotic finished causes them being reproduced as the body does not know them completely. Here this is one of the reasons of renewal of infection once the antibiotic finished.

The fever is very dangerous and should be decreased immediately fast, the antibiotic should be started urgently (!)
The fever is a situation occurred by the body as a reaction and a defense mechanism. At high temperature the body stops and kills the microbes more easily. At high temperature the production of microbes slowdowns. These information show that high fever is our friend not our enemy. In fact we should understand that our body wars with microbe and be happy when our temperatures increase. Giving antibiotic immediately is unnecessary as we also specified it above, it is completely unnecessary for temperature. Let us suppose that the selection of bacteria and antibiotic, microbe producing infection is right, also decrease of the microbes’ number by antibiotic as the antibiotic interferes into blood as much as it will decrease the temperature shall take 48 hours in average. The antibiotics are not the temperature decreasing medicines but they decrease temperature indirectly if they are used rightly, thus it is not scientific to give an antibiotic in panic when the temperature increased in the middle of the night.

My persistent symptoms 31 May, 2013 - 12:14

I am writing to you from St. John's, Newfoundland (Canada). I have a sinus problem started in Nov 2008 upon working for more than a month in a gas plant. I did not have sinus problems prior to this date.

At that time, I may have been exposed to airborne asbestos and other irritants. In the place where I lived at that time, the Winter is so harsh. Temperature during Winter is normally at least 25 Cecilius below zero.
